Preventing Your July 4th Party Guest From Getting a DUI in Columbia
Fourth of July parties are exciting and common during this holiday. Along with enjoying fireworks, party-goers often treat themselves to a few drinks as well. If you are hosting a get together, you may have a guest leave while intoxicated. Prevent him from getting a DUI in Columbia by taking a few precautions.
Limit Drinks
Enforcing a limit on the amount of drinks your guests consume could prevent them from becoming intoxicated and getting behind the wheel. By only allowing them one or two, you could prevent them from getting into Howard County drunk driving accidents and getting DUIs.
Take Their Car Keys
Grab the car keys of all the guests as they enter your party. Only give them back once you are convinced they are not intoxicated and are able to drive. If they appear to be drunk, find them alternate transportation or allow them to stay at your home. If not, they could be arrested for drunk driving in Maryland.
Don’t Serve Alcohol
As the party host, you are ultimately responsible for your guests. The only way to completely ensure none leave your party intoxicated is to avoid serving alcohol. Although this may not make your guests too pleased, it can save their lives and prevent a trip to jail, which is ultimately more important.
Despite your best efforts, if one of your party-goers receives a DUI in Columbia, he will need the help of a Howard County drunk driving lawyer. If not, he could receive harsher penalties than he would otherwise.
